‘King of Spades’ promo poster for The Pink Floyd, Brain Damage tour gig at Hull College of Art, Friday 9 June 1967.

Posters from before ‘The’ was dropped from the band’s name when and they were still called ‘The Pink Floyd’. My Father in law was Head of the Social Committee at Hull College of Art; he booked The Pink Floyd to play at the end of year dance in June 1967 and created the King of Spades poster. When he booked them for the gig, the band were fairly unknown, but by the time the end of year concert took place they’d had their first hit with ‘Arnold Layne’ released in March 1967, reaching number 20 in the UK charts leading to my father in law always make the claim he discovered Pink Floyd!
